“CATTANEO – DELEDDA”
Institute ?Cattaneo-Deledda? is an Italian Vocational Secondary school with about 1500 students aged between 14 and 20.
It has three departments: business services, health & care and social services, fashion and design.
At the end of their 5-year our students will get a significant professional qualification as well as a Diploma which will enable them to enter whatever kind of University courses they would like to try.
During the last three years they attend a ?professionalizing area? that consists in two sections: the first part at school, with external experts intervention in the specific work fields, and a second part of practical work-placement in structures operating into their specific sector.
Our students? background is very heterogeneous, with a high percentage of foreign students (27%), lots of students with learning disabilities, (such as dyslexia) and special needs students. The average socio-cultural background is quite low.
In the school there are about 200 teachers and 30 school assstants and office workers.
Since already many years now, teachers are working to develop innovative methodologies and effective teaching strategies to prevent early school dropout: therefore, increasing ICT skills, as well as experimenting new teaching methodologies for an inclusive and motivating didactic is one of the most important part of each teacher?s training.
