The new social, economic and technological context stresses a fundamental transformation of education in order to address new skills. The schools’ answer to the challenges of nowadays society is unfortunately delayed. There is a gap between the pace of the society and the school`s adaptation, still very rooted in tradition.

A deep SWOT analysis in the partnership schools highlight that, although many actions demonstrate openness and commitment, there are very urgent actions that our schools must adapt related to:

             increasing the students’ motivation to learn,

             linking an old and rigid school curriculum with the skills required by the new society,

             learning barrier that students from at-risk groups have to overcome.

Objectives and expected results

Our project aims to capitalize experiences and best practices in order to develop transversal key competencies in students (age 12-15 years old) by developing and testing a toolkit for implementing the flipped classroom methodology, based on using ICT&OER and creating a more active learning environment.

The flipped classroom describes a reversal of traditional teaching where students gain first exposure to new material outside the class, usually via reading or lecture videos, class time being used for active learning. This way, the class time is moved to application and active learning.

The project develops the teachers’ skills to use innovative approaches in learning, based on using ICT&OER and focused on creating a more active learning environment, by using the flipped classroom methodology, during 4 transnational training activities.

In the same time, the transversal key skills in students (age 12-15) are developed through collaboration and exchange of best practice while implementing the flipped classroom methodology as well as during 4 learning activities at the transnational level, organised by each partner school.

A Toolkit for implementing the flipped classroom methodology to at least 5 school-subjects are developed sharing best practices and testing the proposed models.

Using the created tools, lessons are implemented to at least 5 school-subjects, using the same curricula for flipped and traditional classroom, in a period of three months,in each partner school. Data collected conclude about the impact of the new methodology on transversal students skills from the partners’ perspective in ourCase Study: flipped and traditional classrooms compared – specificity of the partnership schools, another project result.
